About #AfghanEvac

What we do. How we work. Who we are.

Working together to save lives

Formed in August 2021 during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, #AfghanEvac is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt charity organization that built and administers the mechanism for cooperation between U.S. government agencies and non-governmental, mostly volunteer, groups working to ensure the United States keeps its promise to our Afghan allies.

#AfghanEvac convenes a coalition of more than 250 organizations from across the ideological and political spectrum. Our coalition members - spanning veterans, national security professionals, human rights advocates, and Afghans - are united by a shared belief: The U.S. has a sacred duty to honor its promises to Afghan allies who served alongside the U.S. over the course of our longest war.

Since its inception in 2021,
#AfghanEvac has worked in unprecedented collaboration with the U.S. government to help relocate and resettle over
195,000 eligible Afghan allies.

#AfghanEvac mission, goals and process

  • The #AfghanEvac mission

#AfghanEvac unites disparate groups across the political and ideological spectrum toward a single goal: honoring the promise we made to our Afghan friends and allies.

  • Who is #AfghanEvac?

We are a self-organized group of veterans, Afghan allies, current and former members of the national security and intelligence communities, members of human rights-focused non-profits, Hill staffers, private sector employees and frontline civilians.

  • How does #AfghanEvac work?

Members of the #AfghanEvac coalition collaborate on the full relocation and resettlement pipeline from humanitarian support on the ground through travel and visa assistance, security vetting, and welcome.

  • What does #AfghanEvac do?

In the months following the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, we built the mechanism for cooperation between U.S. government agencies and private groups on the safe relocation of Afghan allies, which we now administer.

We work hand-in-hand with these partners, legislators, and the public to coordinate relocation and resettlement efforts, improve efficiency and disseminate information.
