It applies to AfghanEvac’s collection, use, processing, storage, and transfer of information associated with AfghanEvac’s website, www.afghanevac.org (the “Site”).

Throughout this Policy, we refer to the term “Personal Information.” “Personal Information” means data that identifies, describes, is associated with, or could be linked, directly or indirectly, to an individual, such as a name, birthdate, postal address, email address, telephone number, driver’s license number, IP address and device ID, Social Security Number or government-issued identification number, credit card number, or other unique identifiers. “Personal Information” does not include anonymous or aggregated data that can no longer be used to identify a specific person.

Who We Are

Information We Collect Through Our Site and Why

We will only use your Personal Information as described below or as required or permitted by law.

  • Information you provide: We collect information directly from you when you fill out forms on our website. We use Google Forms to collect information from our community such as: coalition interest forms, questions for government partners, satisfaction surveys, reports of harassment or abuse, and service requests. You are not required to provide this information in order to use our website. However, some coalition activities will require completion of forms through our website.

  • Information collected automatically through our website:

As is true of most other websites you interact with, we collect information about your device and browser whenever you interact with our Site. We collect the following technical information about your means of connection to our Site:  Internet Protocol (IP) address; browser type and language; device type; Internet Service Provider (ISP); operating system; date/time stamp of activity; the region or location where your computer or device is accessing the internet; the pages you visit on our Site; duration of your visit; and documents or forms you use or download. We use this information in an anonymized and aggregated fashion to help us administer the site, analyze its usage, protect the website and its content from inappropriate use, and improve your site experience.

We collect information about you indirectly in the following ways:

  1. “Cookies” refers to a text file that is stored on your computer. When you visit a website, the site may place a cookie on your computer so it can recognize your device in the future. If you return to that site later, it can read that cookie to remember you from your last visit. Cookies also help us compile aggregate data about Site traffic and Site interaction to improve our Site and protect our Site from fraud. As text files, Cookies cannot read the information on your hard drive, run programs, or deliver viruses to your computer.

Whether we collect some or all of this information often depends on what type of device you are using and its settings. For example, different types of information are available depending on whether you are using a Mac or a PC, or an iPhone or Android phone. To learn more about what information your device makes available to us, please also check the policies of your device manufacturer or software provider.

We use “session” cookies to store information and monitor Site function during your browsing session. These cookies are installed during your browsing session and are deleted when the browsing session has ended.

Most browsers are set to accept cookies automatically. You can set your browser to decline all cookies automatically or prompt you to respond each time a cookie is offered. If you reject cookies, you may find that you cannot access all our Site’s features.

  1. Web beacons, also known as clear GIFs, are often used in combination with cookies. Usually transparent, these images are part of web pages and allow us to count users who have visited certain pages and generate statistics about how our Site is used.

  2. Pixel tags enable us to send email messages in a format that customers can read, and they tell us whether mail has been opened. We may use this information to reduce or eliminate messages sent to you. When you provide your email to us for receipt of services, you are agreeing to be opted-in to our mailing list. Once our services conclude or you request to be removed from the list, you will no longer receive these emails.

  3. We also use log files when you visit our Site. We access log files to improve and administer the Site, prevent fraud, track website navigation in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.

  4. We use marketing tools available to us [e.g., Google Adwords, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Yahoo Analytics, and BING Analytics] in connection with our Site to gather demographic data such as age, region, and gender. Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager collect anonymous information that help us better understand how visitors use our Site and to detect and defend against fraud and other security risks. To learn more about how Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager collects and processes data, please visit “How Google uses data when you use our partners’ Site or apps,” located at www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/.
